Career Information and Exploration  (Center)
Elective: Grades 9 - 12
1 Semester - 1 Credit
The course in Career Information and Exploration provides students opportunities to learn about themselves and about various traditional and nontraditional occupations and careers.  Students also gain an awareness of the type of occupational preparation or training needed for various occupations and careers.  Students develop skills in: (1) employability, (2) understanding the economic process, and (3) decision making and planning.  Opportunities are provided for students to observe various job situations through field trips, internships, mock interviews, and guest speakers.  Resume development and career related testing are also provided to students.

Accounting  (Center)
Elective: Grades 9 - 12
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
Principles and procedures for proprietorships and partnerships using double-entry accounting is introduced with emphasis on accounting principles as they relate to both manual and automated financial systems.

Advanced Accounting
Elective: Grades 10 - 12
Prerequisite: Accounting
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
Emphasis on corporation accounting and preparation and analysis of financial statements as a basis for decision-making is introduced in this course.  Students will apply accounting theory to either manual or automated systems.  Use of computers to complete the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll systems will be incorporated into the curriculum.

Entrepreneurship
Elective: Grades 11 - 12
Prerequisite: Instructor's Permission
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
Students gain self-confidence and presentation skills to effectively organize, develop, manage, and sell a service or product.  Students learn how to create and manage their own business and develop a written business plan for a business of their choice.

Cadet Teaching Experience
Elective: Grades 11 - 12 Prerequisite: Instructor's Permission
2 Semesters - 2 Credits (Total credits for this course are limited to 4.) This elective course provides students organized exploratory teaching experiences in Grades Kindergarten through grade 9.  All teaching experiences should be preplanned by the high school Cadet Teaching Experience teacher-trainer and teh cooperating teacher(s) who are interested in supervising prospective teachers and providing them with pre-training experiences in one or more classes.  This course provides a balance of class work relating to: (1) classroom organization, (2) classroom management, (3) the curriculum and instructional process, (4) observations of teaching, and (5) instructional experiences. Study topics and background reading, provide the cadets information concerning the teaching profession and the nature of the cadet teachers' assignments.  Evaluation is based upon the cadet teachers' cooperation, day-to-day practical performance, and class work including the cadets' potential ability to teach.  The total workload of the Cadet Teaching course is comparable to those for other subjects in the high school curriculum.
